After the first successful spin-off for the equally successful X-Men trilogy, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Fox Studios have been eager for a sequel. After signing on director Darren Aronofsky, who was coming off of a huge buzz after his successful Black Swan film, things were looking nowhere but up. Then came a natural disaster in the form of an earth quake to the filming location Japan and the eventual departure of Aronofsky, this left the movie stranded.
But now fresh off the news that a new director James Mangold will be helming the superhero sequel The Wolverine, Star Hugh Jackman confirmed a filming start for this October with a release date set for the following year. Here is the quote from Darren Osbourne of CHFI radio in Toronto via Comic Book Movie:
“We shoot in October, so it will probably come out a year after that. That’s usually around the timeline,” Jackman said.
