After the epic first chapter in Marvel Comic’s adaption of Thor ended with a huge bang with Chris Hemsworth bringing the hammer swinging god of thunder to life on Misgard (Earth for you comic noobs). Now it appears that Marvel Studios is setting up a sequel slated for 2013. Deadline is reporting the Disney is moving forward with Thor 2, with a release date set for July 26, 2013.
Also sadly hidden in the report is the departure of director Kenneth Branagh, who deadline reports departure was “mutual and amicable,”. Branagh however will be producing Thor 2 Now the search is on for a replacement for the audience’s second adventure in the world of Asgard. Also hitting the same summer is Iron Man 3, who is also continuing it’s franchise with new director Shane Black.
UPDATE: Deadline Is reporting that Thor 2 has gained a script writer, Don Payne. Payne’s credits are My Super Ex-Girlfriend, Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer, and a rewrite for the script for DC Comic’s adaption of the character Lobo.
