Wolverine fans have always wanted to see the character be used to his ever violent potential on the big screen. Sadly, we haven’t gotten very close to an R rating with any of Fox’s past efforts with to handle Wolverine on the big screen. Now Hugh Jackman, who brought the character to the big screen every time discusses the chances of The Wolverine being R rated…
While speaking to MTV, Jackman discussed why there isn’t much of a chance The Wolverine will get the long sought after R rating for a Wolverine film:
“There’s such great temptation to make an R rated Wolverine.” says Jackman. “I’ve always felt that and I know a lot of fans would like that and I totally get it. If there is ever a superhero that’s going to be R rated, it’s Wolverine. However in the last 10 years I’ve also met many 12, 13, 14, 15 year olds who for them Wolverine is not just cool you see it in their eyes, he’s everything to them.”
“My thing to [director] James Mangold, we were like ‘lets not put it off the table.’” Jackman continues. “There’s even talk about us doing 2 versions as in finding a way to do both while you shoot it, which could be really cool. But you need to have a really good reason to exclude those [younger] fans.”
Starring Hugh Jackman, with director James Mangold’s, The Wolverine is set to begin production next spring, possibly for a 2013 release.
