After finally finding its feet, The Lone Ranger reboot staring Johnny Depp & Armie Hammer has gained a summer of 2013 release date. Sadly, this decision made Disney decide to push back the release date to a sequel to the superhero blockbuster Thor back a few months, with its now confirmed director Patty Jenkins…
After getting its budget axed from $275 million to $215 million (yeah, big drop right?), The Lone Ranger starring Armie Hammer (The Social Network) as the masked Vigilante and Johnny Depp as his sidekick Tonto (The Pirates Of The Caribbean) has finally started to move forward. The film, which will be directed by POTC alum Gore Verbinski, is set to start filming this February. Now Deadline is reporting that the film will hit theaters May 31st, 2013.
Sadly in the report, they also state that Disney has pushed the sequel to the Marvel Comic’s blockbuster Thor back from its July 13th, 2013 release date to November 15th, 2013. Thankfully, Marvel confirmed the news that top contender Patty Jenkins (Monsters) will be directing the sequel in Kenneth Branagh’s steed. Here is a bit from the official press release confirming Jenkin’s new directing job for the hammer swinging god’s next solo adventure:
Marvel Studios announced today that Patty Jenkins will direct THOR 2, which will be released in theatres on Friday, November 15, 2013. Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman will return to star in the film along with Tom Hiddleston. Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige will produce the sequel to this summer’s blockbuster THOR, which has grossed over $448 million worldwide to date.
