J.J. Abrams Wants Benicio Del Toro To Play The Villain In The Sequel To Star Trek

J.J. Abrams is stepping up the game for his next adventure with Captain James Tyberius Kirk and the rest of the USS Enterprise.  With filming only a few months away, some possible casting news has surfaced that reveals that Abrams is interested in seeing the star of the recent remake of the classic horror film The Wolfman , Benicio Del Toro  play the films villain…..

According to Variety, Abrams has spoken openly of his interest in putting the Snatch and Sin City actor in the villain role of his next Trek film.  There has been no news on whether Abrams will be pursuing the casting, but talks are apparently very likely to take place.  This is the first news of any potential casting for the film, but we do know that the entire main cast will be returning.  We will keep you updated on the progress of Del Toro’s potential casting, along with any other casting, story news, and interviews.

The yet to be titled sequel to the 2009 reboot of Star Trek will star Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, John Cho and Anton Yelchin.  Filming is expected to start in February, with a 2013 release date in the card.
