The recent amount of comic books being adapted into television properties has just increased by adding one of DC Comic’s more eccentric characters. It seems Syfy will be developing a pilot script based off Booster Gold, the character created by Dan Jurgens, a popular DC bullpen B Lister who proved to be more than an underground success for DC…..
Syfy will be bringing in Fringe alum Andrew Kreisberg to pen the script for the pilot, which will be produced by Greg Berlanti and his company Berlanti Productions. The news broke this afternoon on The Hollywood Reporter, who also discovered a few details about the pilots plot:
The story will center on Booster Gold, a washed-up athlete from the future who travels back to the present in hopes of becoming the greatest super hero of all time. Instead of chasing criminals, however, his main priority is chasing fame and money. But Booster Gold discovers that being a hero takes more than just a megawatt smile, and that the future doesn’t happen without first protecting the present.
Berlanti is no stranger to bringing superheroes to the big screen, he played a large part in The CW’s Smallville; an origin story for a young Clark Kent on his journey to becoming Superman, which ran for ten seasons.
