After J.J. Abrams completed his work on Super 8, we finally started getting some news on his sequel to the 2009 reboot of the cult classic sci-fi show Star Trek. But now comes the best news of all, the film has finally gotten a release date for spring of 2013 right next to Shane Black’s Iron Man 3 & Guillermo Del Toro’s Pacific Rim; as well as news that it will be filming in 3D….
After striking gold with a reboot of the infamously popular Star Trek, the TV show that made names including William Shatner & Leonard Nimoy, Lost co-creator J.J. Abrams got hit with pleas to make a sequel. But Abrams played coy with questions on a sequel, and pursued work on Super 8 instead. Now Star Trek 2 (still currently untitled) is in full swing with Chris Pine, Zack Quinto, Zoe Saldana & crew are making a return for the sequel when filming starts in February.
Deadline is reporting that the crew of the U.S.S Enterprise will be returning to the silver screen on the following date:
May 17, 2013
The release date isn’t the only news on the Trek sequel, it has been revealed it will also film in 3D.
