FOX Chairman Tom Rothman Offers Updates On Reboots FANTASTIC FOUR & DAREDEVIL; Also FIRST CLASS Sequel

While the fanboy community has yet to cool down about the fact that FOX studios does own the movie rights to more than a few Marvel comic characters, but we can’t argue they haven’t been put to use; we can however argue whether they have been put to good use.  But after stumbling on some good fortune with the critically and financially successful X-Men: First Class, FOX Chairman Tom Rothman admits it is inspiring them to improve their less successful Marvel Comic properties….

Though we got a pleasant surprise with the surprisingly awesome X-Men: First Class from director Mathew Vaughn, most were still hoping Fox would ignore their other Marvel properties so the rights would revert back to Marvel Studios.  Alas Fox decided to hire director Davis Slade (30 Days Of Night) to direct a new Daredevil movie, which is going to be based of the popular Born Again story arc by DD comic’s legend Frank Miller.  A reboot for Fantastic Four was also thrown on the wagon.

While talking it up with Splash Page, Fox Ceo Tom Rothman talked about X-Men First Class getting a sequel, as well as how the film inspired them to move forward with new takes on Daredevil & The Fantastic Four:

“The reason, in addition to those two guys and Matthew Vaughn, that it was as good as it was that the script was really good,” Rothman said. “The key to making a great continuing franchise is to have a great script, so we’re working hard on it.”

“‘Daredevil’ is still with David Slade,” Rothman said. “It’s in development now. We’re working on it and ‘Fantastic Four.'”

“I think for all of us, the bar has been raised, so we’ve got to aim high now. Marvel’s done a terrific job with their films. Where our Marvel movies are concerned or other movies like that,” he said. “It’s like what we had with ‘Planet of the Apes’ this summer. I think it’s important for us to really aim high and deliver an A-level experience to the audience.”
