THOR Sequel Taps GAME OF THRONES’ Alan Taylor As New Director

When big time director Kenneth Branagh decided not to direct a sequel to his Marvel Comic adaption Thor, taking a producing role instead, Marvel scrambled to find a replacement to direct the second adventure of Thor.  They settled on Patty Jenkins, the Director of Monster.  Now Jenkins has been fired, and Marvel has decided on its new director, Alan Taylor; director for episodes of shows such as Lost, Game of Thrones, and Boardwalk Empire…

After the recent firing of Patty Jenkins, Marvel Studios went into a bit of hysteria to find its replacement fast enough to keep  the movie on track for its summer of 2013 release.  Their search included several TV directors, one of which was Alan Taylor; who was up for the job during the first search that would be won by Jenkins.  Now according to Deadline, Taylor has officially got the job to direct the yet to be titled sequel to Thor.

The film is now back on track to meet its November 15, 2013 release date.  Thor 2 will be hitting theaters the same year as Marvel’s other property Iron Man 3; as well as DC/Warner Brothers competing Man Of Steel, which will see Henry Cavill don the Superman blue & reds under the direction of Zack Snyder (300, Watchmen).  All of the original cast is expected to return.  Thor 2 hits theaters November 15, 2013.
