The hit comic series from Mark Millar and John Romita Jr., Kick-Ass, was famous for heading to the big screen before the eight part series was even finished. After director Matthew Vaughn successfully brought the comic to the big screen in 2010, Millar and Romita dove straight into work on a sequel comic, which is being planned for the big screen, but apparently Vaughn has no plans to return….
Here is what script writer Jane Goldman said of Vaughn’s current status with Kick-Ass 2 while promoting her latest movie The Woman In Black over at MTV:
“I think the only thing that is fairly sure is that right now, Matthew doesn’t have any plans to direct it. He and I are not currently talking about writing it either,” she told MTV. “It may well be that Matthew oversees [‘Kick-Ass 2’] in a producer role, and I may also be involved in that capacity. I know that there is somebody that Matthew has been talking to who would be interested in writing and directing that. That would be cool.”
“It’s very tempting,” she added of going back into the “Kick-Ass” universe. “We had such a wonderful time making it. It’s such a great bunch of people, people we’d all be incredibly keen to work with again. If we could repeat the experience we had that would be wonderful. I think for whatever reason Matthew feels that he isn’t going to be directing that one.”
