News broke recently that legendary DC Comics character Green Arrow would be getting its own show on the CW network, titled Arrow. Now our first casting announcement reveals that Hung actor Stephen Amell has scored the lead role….
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Stephen Amell has been cast as the lead role in The CW networks upcoming pilot Arrow. The pilot is based off the legendary DC Comic character Green Arrow, a billionaire by the name of Oliver Queen; a Robin Hood styled vigilante who operates in the fictional Star City. Amell’s acting credit includes Hung, Vampire Diaries, and Private Practice. The role will have no connection to the version of the hero played by Justin Hartley on CW’s other superhero show, Smallville.
Green Arrow/Oliver Queen is described as “A 27-year-old reformed bad boy, who after having spent five years shipwrecked on a tiny, brutally dangerous island in the South China Sea returns to town a different man. Or to be more specific, a tortured, thoughtful master of the bow with a ferocious determination to make a difference.”
The pilot script was written by Greg Berlantiand Marc Guggenheim, the writing duo behind last summer’s Green Lantern and the planned movie adaption of The Flash. This is one of two upcoming DC Comic based pilots, with Syfy gearing up for a pilot based off fan favorite Booster Gold.
